Responsibility is omnipresent. It is the duty for citizens to pick up the rubbish on the ground after a barbecue; it is the duty for students to work hard in and out of school; it is the duty for a man to support his family. Evidently, a person, whether common or great, should recognize their responsibility in life.
Being responsible is also a sign of transformation from a child to an adult. During my childhood, my father usually asked me to water the plants at home. Sometimes I might forget about it, but he would never get tired of reminding me of the task. As time passed by, this became my daily routine and habit deeply rooted in my heart. “I will never ever remind you again. It is your duty now.” he once said. This was my preliminary understanding of responsibility---sticking to your task.
When I became a monitor later, I learnt that my responsibility was to be a good role model in class, both in morality and grades. As a leader, i need not only to encourage the team to move forward, but also enhance the whole class’ cohesion. And the process was more like taking a test to see if you could handle it properly.
Responsibility is what you ask of yourself, after all. Everyone has different requirements of life. For example, some students are determined to study hard while others choose to waste their time. Sooner or later, the later will find themselves trapped in a dilemma, regretting not having fulfilled the responsibility of their own. So, we are supposed to take the responsibility readily, optimistically and actively.
