Ningbo Old Bund opened in 1844, it’s located in Ningbo city center, it is currently called LAOWAITAN. It is located close to the Yong River because it was, since the Tang and Song Dynasty, one of the busiest ports for trading with other countries. It was one of the earliest foreign open port areas. Now it has become one of the Yangtze River delta large landscapes.
The most famous building in Ningbo Old Bund is the clock tower. This building partially a house and now a catholic church has a typical gothic style of Rome. It has an important value of history, culture, art, and it is the sixth batch of national key cultural relic’s protection units.
On July 28, 2014 this wonderful relic burned into flames but Ningbo city has worked hard in remodeling it.
From the early twentieth century, Ningbo Old Bund has become a metropolis infested with foreign adventurers, not only has the British consulate, the Catholic church, police station, bank, etc., but also the foreign firm port, shipping companies, clubs, restaurants, theaters, etc.
